My name is Klaus Ohlhoff, and I thoroughly enjoy being a Calgary wedding officiant. Before studying theology and becoming a minister, I was a high school and college English teacher. My degrees are in literature, education, and theology, and culminated in a graduate degree from Yale University Divinity School. I have been the Lutheran Chaplain at the University of Calgary since 1991, and have been a Calgary and Banff marriage minister performing a multitude of weddings, both large and small, around Calgary and Banff.

A few more details about me:

• I’ve performed weddings for people from a great variety of denominations, religions, and spiritualities, and am just as comfortable in a church as in a hotel ballroom or on a mountaintop.

• I am authorized by my denomination and by the government of Alberta as a registered Marriage Officiant.

• I enjoy officiating at both conventional and unconventional weddings, and am at ease with people of every age and social standing.

• I treasure my outdoor activities in the Calgary-Banff vicinity, where my recreational past-times include hiking, scrambling, back-country skiing, cycling, and running.

• I believe it is a great privilege to be a couple's wedding reverend, and always officiate with careful attention to the couples’ personal desires, to detail, and to overall tone.

• The wedding ceremonies I officiate always get rave reviews from bride and groom, parents, friends, photographers, and wedding planners!

My services include:

• An initial meeting with you and your partner to get a general idea of the wedding, and the type of ceremony you would like.

• Recommending various wedding resources.

• Advising on available marriage preparation courses, if desired.

• Meeting a second time to review the marriage ceremony, or to discuss wedding/relationship issues, as needed.

• Leading the wedding rehearsal.

• Officiating at the wedding, and giving you a personal certificate of marriage.

• Attending the wedding reception, if requested, and if it seems appropriate for you and your family.

• Completing and mailing the Marriage License to Alberta Vital Statistics, and staying in touch with you about your official government Marriage Certificate (which you receive several weeks after the wedding, if you apply for it).
